Father Christmas

On Christmas Eve La Nochebuena, the children are very excited and go to bed quite early as they want Father Christmas to come.They pin up a stocking by the fireplace or at the bottom of their bed.They leave him a mince pie and a glass of whiskey or a glass of milk and some carrots for Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and the other Reindeer called Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder (or Donner), and Blitzen.

Santa, as we also call him, travels on his sleigh, drawn by his reindeer and carries lots of toys and presents in a sack.His reindeer land on the roof and Santa comes down the chimney to get into the house to leave presents. He leaves presents in a stocking and by the fireplace, by the Christmas tree or at the bottom of the childrens' bed.

On Christmas Day the children get up very early to see if 'he has been'. After opening their presents families have a special Christmas lunch or dinner. Families also exchange gifts.

26th December is called Boxing Day and this is a public holiday.

On New Years Eve many people have parties with family and friends to see in the new year. Many people let off fireworks too.

La Nochebuena muchos ninos se acuestan bastante temprano porque quieren que llegue Papa Noel. El no llega hasta que se hayan acostado los pequenos. Los ninos dejan un 'mince pie (un pastelito) y un vaso de whisky o leche para Papa Noel y zanahoria para los renos! Papa Noel viaje en un trineo tirado por sus renos. El mas famoso de ellos se llama Rudolph y tiene una nariz roja. Los demas se llaman Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder (or Donner), and Blitzen. Santa, como le llamamos, tiene muchos regalos y juguetes en su saco.

Papa Noel y los renos aterrizan en el techo de la casa de los ninos y entra en la casa por la chiminea. Deja sus regalos al lado de sus camas o al lado del arbol de navidad o enfrente del hogar. Deja algunos regalos en sus calcetines tambien.

El dia de Navidad los ninos se levantan muy temprano para ver si Papa Noel ha llegado y abren sus regalos. La familia come el almuerzo o cena especial de Navidad y los adultos abren sus regalos.

El 26 de diciembre es una fiesta para todos se llama Boxing Day.

El 31 de diciembre se celebra con amigos y familia. Mucha gente tiene una fiesta en casa y encienden fuegos artificiales.

El 6 de enero no es un dia especial para nostros. Que haceis en Espana el 5/6 de enero?
